Rivals Capitulating By The Hour

The pressure on John Hemming's rivals for the Liberal Democrat leadership has proven too much for many of them this weekend as, one by one, potential leadership candidates have bowed to the inevitable and, clearly intimidated by the prospect of taking on a formidable political operator of John's stature, declined to challenge John for the leadership.

Mooted contenders that have declined to stand include Vince Cable, Nick Clegg, Ed Davey, Chris Huhne, Susan Kramer, David Laws, Lembit Opik and Matthew Taylor, many of whom have since backed another candidate, fearing that the seemingly unstoppable momentum building behind John could lead to a 'coronation' scenario, portraying the Liberal Democrats as undemocratic.

Of course, we don't agree with the misguided decision taken by the individuals named above to back other candidates, and we implore anybody that shares our view that John Hemming is the ideal candidate to lead the Liberal Democrats to voice their support by emailing

John Hemming for Liberal Democrat leader - you know it makes sense!

John: if you hadn't screwed Rover I might consider it. As you did, I won't.
This is excellent news!!

Did you know that John invented the internet, and was nearly Britain's first astronaut?

He is a colossus among pigmies!
